At age 13, Dhruvi discovers that eating Indian food almost every day makes her armpit sweat rather pungent, leading to years of resistance to her Indian cultural heritage. In university, she is attracted to another South Asian student she sees in the elevator, but is less interested when she realizes Abhay has only recently arrived from India.
Director
Shetu Modi is a writer, director and editor based in Toronto. She holds a bachelor of fine arts in film production and a master of arts in journalism. Shetu’s online documentary Drape, Tuck, Pleat was featured by Brown Girl Magazine. Her first narrative short, Hot Air, screened at festivals in Toronto and Los Angeles in 2016. She currently works at the Canadian Press as a video producer and editor.

Emily Varg is a Swedish writer and producer based out of Toronto. She holds diplomas in copywriting and communications from Stockholm Media School, as well as in film production from Toronto Film School. Emily’s experiences include in-house marketing for various global companies (Carphone Warehouse, Electronic Arts) and producing music videos, short films, commercials and voiceovers. She is also the co-founder of Fits & Starts, a communications agency designed to help independent filmmakers with marketing and crowdfunding campaigns.
