The Chicago South Asian Film Festival is coming to steal your attention with its vibrant, festive moment which is scheduled to happen around September end to October first week.
It is themed to unleash the creative skills of aspiring filmmakers and directors those willing to get their film premiered on a big platform, a big event or in front of big celebrities.
Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF), 2021 is calling for entries from the budding filmmakers and directors to get their creative filmmaking skills recognized and to win awards for the best film in the respective categories.
About the Film Festival
The Chicago South Asian Film Festival is a non-profit event, founded in 2010. It is the largest annual South Asian event that happens once a year in the heartland of America.
CSAFF Festival is organized by the Chicago South Asian Arts Council Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This organisation is dedicated to enhancing diversity in Chicagoland through international cinema, conversation and culture. With premiere films, panel discussions, speaker series, workshops, film awards, dazzling receptions, after parties and networking events, the festival celebrates international cinema in the warm and personable style that is unique to Chicago.
For their every year annual event, they consistently recieve the support of the Mayor of Chicago, Chicago Film Office, Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Consulate General of India, Consulate General of Pakistan, Chicago Sister Cities, the City of Evanston, educational institutions and industry ambassadors.
This year, the event is going to make a big boon as this year Atlanta Film Festival is also joining hands with Chicago South Asian Film Festival.

CSAFF is proudly presenting the following awards for the film submissions (participants):
- Award for Best Fiction Feature Film- It would be presented to the best feature film in the fictional film category.
- Award for Best Fiction Short Film- It would be presented to the best short film in the fictional film category.
- Award for Best Documentary Feature Film- It would be presented to the best feature film in the documentary film category.
- Award for Best Documentary Short Film- It would be presented to the best short film in the documentary film category.
CSAFF would be glad to present the above awards to the best film selected from the stated categories above and to give the recognition to the talented people across the south asian countries.

- In Competition Fiction Feature Film
- The Film run-time should exceed 30 minutes
- The film must be a Chicago premiere when screened at CSAFF
- In Competition Fiction Short Film
- Film runtime should not exceed 30 minutes
- The film must be a Chicago premiere when screened at CSAFF
- In Competition Documentary Feature Film
- Feature-Length Films should exceed 30 minutes
- The film must be a Chicago premiere when screened at CSAFF
- In Competition Documentary Short Film
- Short Films should not exceed 30 minutes
- The film must be a Chicago premiere when screened at CSAFF
- Episodic Content (Non Competition)
- Live-action, documentary/nonfiction, or animation project presented in a multi-episode format (includes web series, docuseries, limited series that was created to unfold over multiple episodes).
- Can be short-form and long-form content, with a minimum of 5 episodes.
There is an eligibility criteria which is applicable to all the participants that are submitting films.

- All the films that are coming for submissions must be completed within 2 years of the festival.
- Every Film coming for submission must present South Asian content, topics, themes or they must include South Asian heritage within the team (Producer, Director, Screenwriter, Composer, Actor). This clause is not applicable to International and Chicago Student Filmmakers.
- Some countries like- Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Iran and Tibet are included in the classification of ‘South Asian’ countries.
- The films which are shooted and made in the non-English spoken dialogues must include on-screen English subtitles.
