Gem & Shaz
Synopsis:
GEMMA (Chinese-Canadian) and SHAZIA (Pakistani-Canadian) get ready for their first high school dance.
They’re 16 and they’ve been allowed exactly one hour at the dance and they are ready to make the most of it.
As they get ready, Gemma teases Shazia about her crush being at the dance but Shazia claims she has no time for boys, she needs to focus on getting into a good school so she can eventually become a doctor.
Gemma points out that Shazia doesn’t even want to be a doctor, that’s her parents’ dream for her.
In fact, her real passion is filmmaking and Gemma encourages Shazia to use the dance as an opportunity to shoot some footage for a video.
Problem is, the ever prompt girls arrive at the dance right on time only to discover no one is there except for two teachers who explain that people don’t show up to a dance on time.
With only one hour at the dance, they decide to make the most of it and shoot their dance footage themselves. Fake it till you make it. And have a blast doing it.
