The lives of people in this city are like the two banks of a river—far apart, yet connected by boats. One such boat is Mallika. On one side lies her neighbourhood and her parents, Manik and Vijaya. On the other is the home where she works as a caretaker, shared by Bishwanath, Ashish, Reba, Nibha, Paritosh, Maya-di and Natobar-da—elderly people bound together by loneliness and companionship. A daily bus ride connects these two worlds. During these journeys, Mallika spends time with Sayak, a divorced father reconnecting with his daughter. Through Mallika’s stories, Sayak becomes attached to the elderly household. As new relationships blossom and old loves find renewed meaning, the residents discover purpose. When Manik is diagnosed with lung cancer, the elderly family rallies around Mallika, proving that love and belonging can transcend blood ties. The story culminates in a wedding, celebrating companionship and the invisible bonds that unite us.
